I’ve been working on a few scripts over the last few months and I’m please to announce that our Server Down scripts are now finalised!
As we operate a number of Shoutcast servers of our own, we have a few key clients that have asked us to monitor their services for them and alert them if there was ever an issue with their station. Not only if the server was unavilable, but if their studio or DJ got disconnected.
This meant that the scripts needed to not only monitor that the Shoutcast server itself was online, but if the source was connected.
Time to put on my programming head and get stuck in!
The result is that we can now monitor not only our clients, but any Shoutcast (v1 or v2) or Icecast servers and send out either email and/or SMS alerts if the server goes down or the source connection to the server disconnects.
End users get alerted via email and/or SMS if there is an issue and again when full service is restored.
As online radio services become much more predominant in the media industry it is more important than ever to make sure that your radio station stays online, and if there is an issue, that you find out about it as soon as possible.
